Dear Families and staff:

This letter is to inform you that Saturday afternoon, 10/10/20, we were notified an individual at Beecher High School had tested positive for COVID-19.

If you were NOT contacted by school personnel, then you or your student was determined to NOT have close contact with the individual who tested positive.

We are coordinating our efforts with Will County Health Department to promptly identify and monitor individuals who have had recent contact with the COVID-19 positive individual(s) to prevent further spread within our school and community. The health and safety of students and staff is our highest priority, and we recognize the uncertainty and concern regarding the evolving COVID-19 pandemic. We are following guidance from the CDC as well as the Will County Health Department for best practices and procedures to protect everyone’s health.

To prevent further spread of COVID-19, Beecher 200U is taking the following steps:

  • Identify and contact close contacts and their families (persons within 6 feet of COVID -19 positive/symptomatic individuals for 15 minutes or longer throughout the course of the day).
  • Placing staff members and students who were identified as having close contact to the COVID-19 case(s) in quarantine for 14 days. Close contacts will also receive a separate notification from the WCHD. Students/Staff NOT notified directly by Beecher School District have been determined to have appropriate distancing as defined by WCHD.
  • Ongoing monitoring of students and staff for signs and symptoms of illness and evaluation of illness reports.
  • Conducting deep cleaning and disinfection.

We will continue to enforce safe practices to prevent, promptly identify, and to respond to potential COVID cases, as follows:

  • Students are required to wear face coverings at all times, as previously directed per school plan.
  • Staff are required to wear face coverings at all times while in contact with children and other staff in the schools.
  • Students and staff who are ill with COVID-like symptoms will promptly be placed in a separate supervised area away from others until they can be sent home.
  • Continuously sanitizing high-touch surfaces including door handles, stair rails, sink faucets, etc.
  • Continue teaching the importance of proper handwashing, facial coverings, social distancing,   avoiding touching the face, and covering coughs/sneezes.

As always, everyone should monitor their health and stay home if they develop symptoms. Sick persons should contact their healthcare provider to determine if testing is needed. If someone within your home has close contact with a COVID positive or symptomatic person, keep the child and siblings home, contact your healthcare provider and your school.

If you have further questions or concerns, please reach out to your nurse or building office.
